During recent years, SCRAP has been invited to establish worm farms and worm farm programs for preschools and childcare centres as the requirements for sustainability education within these institutions have increased.
Recently, we have had requests from organisations for excursions to our centre at Holsworthy and we have been thrilled to receive a grant from Liverpool City Council to assist us in making our grounds ‘kid-safe’ for these excursions to proceed.
Children can visit and learn to make their own mini-wormfarm, pot seeds and make their own soil mix to do it. As well as this they can experience the harvesting of our big worm farms and many of the other sustainability options the SCRAP Centre offers, including even a visit to our composting toilet if the need arises!
A typical 2 hour excursion for around 20 children + carers/teachers costs just $165 with materials provided so all you need is the transport.
