School EcoSnapshot Day

$5,000.00 Includes GST

The EcoSnapshot Day was devised by SCRAP and a number of other environmental organisations in 1999-2000 and delivered to over 100 schools since.

Please note: the quoted price is for EcoSnapshots conducted in and around Sydney. Other areas may be more expensive depending on travel and accommodation costs. Please call Peter on 0400 982 516 to discuss.

It comprises a three stage process –
1. Induction – resources, procedures and related information is disseminated to the school executive, teachers, other staff and students (and parents if desired)
2. EcoSnapshot Day – at least 5 groups of students (numbering up to 25 each) work on five audits – Solid Waste; MUM (Materials Use and Management); Water; Energy; Biodiversity and Grounds. After briefings from SCRAP’s expert educators to each group, the audits are conducted. Another group of students documents the process throughout with various media. Following that the information is compiled, analysed and students are debriefed. Finally, each group prepares a presentation on their findings (in their chosen media) to their peers and possibly other members of the school community.
3. SCRAP recovers the data of the day and each educator prepares a report on their specific environmental aspect. SCRAP then edits, compiles and publishes the report (around 50 pages) and provides to the school through follow-up sessions. Recommendations and a roadmap for change is provided usually to staff but also to environmental committees and other interested people.

The process usually takes up to 2-3 school terms to complete, after which the school is well prepared to take steps on several fronts to improve environmental outcomes.
