SCRAP Ltd has received $1500 from the NSW Department of Veterans Affairs to improve the carpark and roadway area around the flagpole which Holsworthy HS has been restoring and using for ceremonial events such as Anzac Day and Remembrance Day.
The area, which adjoins the SCRAP Centre carpark, has a number of areas of degraded bitumen which the grant will help to restore. As part of the grant, students who are participating in the Community Garden projects will assist in the improvements including the ongoing gardening of the flagpole surrounds.
Enhancing the Flag Flying at Holsworthy HS is a project that will deliver improved grounds for the school and the community, especially during the key ceremonial days each March and November, for which the school has a unique connection. The project will also dovetail nicely into our ongoing program of enhancing those sections of the extensive school grounds now providing a home to the Holsworthy Community Garden and the SCRAP Environmental Education Centre.
